Tires

Tires have a highly complex composition, and are designed to:

  • Meet the most stringent safety requirements under varying weather and surface conditions.
  • Provide fuel savings, low rolling resistance and low abrasion and wear.
  • Deliver a smooth ride and low noise.

To achieve all this, a specific rubber type is required for each tire component, in combination with the appropriate filler.

  • The SBR and high-cis BR series offered by Dow Synthetic Rubber for tire applications cover a very wide range, extending to the high performance market and including rubber grades designed for motor racing applications.
  • The E SBR series ranges from the well-established 1500 and 1502 to oil-extended grades such as 1712.
  • n addition to these, The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) offers oil-extended E SBR grades with improved wet grip provided by increased styrene content, such as E SBR 1721.
