Rubber

Materials classified as rubbers or elastomers are used to produce items as divergent as golf balls and tires, many of which have unique processing considerations.

In response, The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) offers a broad selection of rubber and elastomer products. Whether your manufacturing process requires compounding calendering and vulcanization or highly-controlled graft polymerization chemistry, Dow produces base rubber products that could cleanly, consistently and predictably meet your requirements.

Dow’s line-up of different rubber families covers the extremes and everything in between.

  • Dow’s synthetic rubbers and NORDEL™ hydrocarbon rubber. Used in: tires, plastics modification, conveyor belts, golf balls, footwear, weatherstripping and other rubber products and as an additive in rigid plastics.
  • Dow’s performance plastomers and elastomers. Used as: impact modifiers for other plastics or stand-alone materials for food packaging and film, automotive, thermoplastic compounding, UV stability, TPE compounds or in crosslinked systems.
  • Dow’s specialty polymers products. Used in: a plethora of rubber and functional polymer applications for tie layers, binders, grafting, PVC and other plastics modification, and multi-layer structures.
